Privacy Policy
Whereward ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Whereward mobile application and website.
Information we collect
- Location data: With your permission, Whereward uses device location to find nearby points of interest and power map/AR discovery.
- Account information: If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive basic account identifiers such as user ID, email address, and display name when provided.
- Saved content: Saved places, collections, generated tours, and replay history may be stored locally and synced to your account.
- Usage analytics: We collect product analytics to understand feature usage and improve the app. Session recording is configured to avoid network header/body capture.
How we use information
We use information to provide location-based discovery, save and sync your content, generate narrated tours, maintain account security, diagnose issues, and improve Whereward.
AI tour generation
When you create a tour, selected place names, coordinates, and guide preferences may be sent to AI services to generate scripts and audio narration. Generated audio may be stored in Firebase Storage so it can be replayed in the app.
Third-party services
Whereward integrates with services including Wikipedia/Wikimedia APIs, Firebase, Google/Apple sign-in, PostHog analytics, Google Gemini, and OpenAI text-to-speech. These services process data according to their own terms and privacy policies.
Your choices
- You can control location permission in your device settings.
- You can sign out or request account/data deletion by contacting us.
- You can delete saved places, collections, and tours from the app where supported.

Whereward is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
